Overview

The 451 Group, a technology industry analyst company, has an exciting opportunity for smart, driven and ambitious individual with technology journalism experience to take the next step and become a research analyst in the enterprise software sector. We analyze the emerging and disruptive technologies and businesses for a demanding executive audience.

Success at 451 requires integrating the best aspects of investigative journalism along with the crucial skills of critical analysis, and the ability to argue, justify and express well-researched opinions. We deliver timely analysis to our client base, each day. Our clients are already full of facts, bombarded by news, but seek perspective, analysis, interpretation and critical thinking.

Areas of focus

Some experience in covering areas including - but not limited to - enterprise content management, enterprise search and categorization, information retrieval and relational databases is required.

You will have the opportunity to specialize and become an industry expert your field. You will work as part of a fast-growing team and alongside the head of our enterprise software practice.

The ideal candidate will:

  • write regular reports for The 451 Group’s Market Insight Service, as well as other services
  • speak to and meet with all relevant companies in your sector regularly
  • establish an industry presence as an influential analyst and thinker
  • build influence with the press and media

We seek highly motivated, entrepreneurial talent, who can work both independently as well as part of a practice team. The ideal candidate can think fast, write easily and well, speak with authority and thrive under demanding time constraints – proven time management skills are essential. The posting could be in any of our US offices New York, San Francisco or Boston, although east coast is preferred for this job. The role will involve occasional travel to our other US offices as well as our London operation.
